TIE Blog 2

The voice thread activity was so much fun! The students were excited about being part of the voice thread, and they enjoyed viewing the finished product. I think the part of the voice thread that worked particularly well was the video comment that each group made. The students were thrilled to be videotaped, and they worked diligently to ensure that what they planned to say on camera was perfect. The students prepared their responses before translating them to the voice thread, so we eliminated the need for any "redos." The only thing I would do differently next time is to introduce the voice thread technology to the class before the lesson. I would have liked the students to be comfortable with the technology so that I wouldn't have had to spend so much time at the computer. Once students become comfortable with the technology, it will be an excellent tool to integrate into the curriculum.

Questions to Peers:
How could I extend this activity to cover more objectives?
How could I modify this activity so that students can work individually?

TIE Blog 1

I am getting excited because it seems my lesson and voice thread are coming together. I intend to have students collaborate in small groups to utilize the technology of voice thread. They will review information, watch a video/song, create a problem as a team, discover a solution to another teams' problem, and evaluate theirs' and others' answers.

TIE Lesson Ideas

My CT is fabulous, and already had a math objective in mind for October 4th. The objective is using symbols to compare numbers. I am going to follow in her footsteps and be prepared in advance for my TIE lesson. I intend to go ahead and try to use the objective she had planned, and try to figure out a way to integrate voice thread into teaching this concept. Hopefully, I can come up with a lesson for this in time!

Voice Thread Deconstruction

We reviewed a voice thread about a first grade field trip to the beach. There are pictures of the students and the different species that they found. The students voices are explaining what animal they found. The students are using HOTS by analyzing the different species that they found. We added additional HOTS by suggesting the creation of a graph compare types and amounts of species found.

Google Docs

I have just begun to explore Google Docs. It appears that there many different ways it could be used in the classroom. I haven't worked with it before, but I think it could be a valuable tool. The presentation tool would be a great opportunity for students to work together to create a presentation. This could be used for a variety of topics. Students could each create a slide, or have small groups assigned to a slide. Then, the students could combine all off their slides for an amazing presentation!
